The main activities of Sri Siddhi Vinayak Cultural Centre are to develop :
Centre of Culture – To strive for spiritual richness through promotion and learning of performing art, yoga, Cooking, clayIdol making, arts and crafts geared towards Indian festivals , music concerts and traditional arts.
Centre for Education– To establish and maintain a centre for the purpose of conducting social and educational activities ; to develop a congregational sense of responsibility to the extended community we serve and create an atmosphere of extended family to all members; celebrate various festivals and organise special activities for Indian communities to come together and keep in touch with their roots. Enhance knowledge through promoting scripture study, Language (Sanskrit/Hindi), Bal Vihar (children’s learning) and discourses.
Centre of Hindu Rituals: celebrate Hindu festivals such as Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali enabling promotion & practice of tolerant ideals of Hinduism through worship, rituals and teaching. Develop and maintain cultural centre and a Hindu temple precinct in Townsville to make all the above activities possible.
This Centre will have regular visitors from Cardwell, Ingham, Bowen and Mackay. We believe that with these objectives, we will strive to connect local communities and support them and provide opportunities to learn and appreciate Indian tradition and culture. This will not only help the Indian community to keep in touch with their roots, but will also help them with engage with broader community who would be interested to know about Hindu way of life.
